With the sudden outbreak of COVID-19, keep reading for our best ring cleaning tips.
The global spread of COVID-19 has a number of people making changes to their daily habits, with many increasingly using hand sanitizer to minimize the risk of exposure. While hand sanitizer may do a good job protecting you, it may be affecting something else – your engagement ring. Scroll down for our best ring cleaning tips to keep your sparkler safe and COVID-free!
1. Cleaning Agents
Excessive exposure to cleaning agents can make finish on white gold wear a little faster. This won’t cause immediate damage. However, contact with cleaning agents like chlorine, bleach and antibacterial soap can break down the brilliance of the metals over time. So keep cleaning agents away from white gold sparklers to keep them dazzling to the max:
We’re not suggesting that you stop using hand sanitizer. Heath and hygiene come before bling! However, there are ways to stay clean and protect your precious sparkler. Avoid rubbing hand sanitizer or harsh cleaning products directly onto your ring. Instead, remove your ring, sanitize, dry your hands, then put one of these back on:
You should ideally clean your ring once a week. The best way is by soaking it in warm water and dish-washing soap. This will allow you to keep practicing good hygiene habits and avoid putting your ring in jeopardy. Soak up one these white, rose and yellow gold options:

Think you can’t afford a sparkler as magnificent as Meghan Markle’s engagement ring? Think again!
Everyone loves a fairytale wedding. If Prince Harry’s recent engagement to American actress Meghan Markle is any indication, we’re in for a royal treat come spring 2018. The prince proposed to the Suits star with a custom designed and deeply personal three-stone engagement ring that has caught the world’s attention. Of course, now the question on everyone’s lips is how can they match the exquisite beauty of that engagement ring? Quite simple, actually. Read on to find out how you, too, can recreate Meghan Markle’s engagement ring.
Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring: Behind the Gleams
In coming up with a ring fit for a princess, Prince Harry knew he needed to pull out all the stops. He opted for a classic three-stone yellow gold ring with a difference; the center diamond which appears to be cushion cut is from Botswana, a country that he and Meghan visited earlier this year. Adding to the ring’s sentimental value, the two round cut side diamonds are from the personal collection of his mother, the late Princess Diana (a connection shared by Kate Middleton, who wore Diana’s actual engagement ring to her and Prince William’s wedding in 2011).
This intricate floral handmade head assembly puts a unique twist on the classic three-stone diamond engagement ring. You can replicate Meghan Markle’s yellow gold ring even more by pairing this setting with a cushion cut diamond of your choice.
Mirror Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring Look
For us non-royal folk, the Meghan Markle Engagement Ring look is surprisingly easy to achieve. Like Prince Harry, you can custom design an engagement ring inspired by Meghan Markle’s ring. We’ve rounded up James Allen rings that bear the closest resemblance to Meghan’s three-stone stunner so you can sparkle like aristocracy for a fraction of the price!
This classic three-stone round-shaped ring features a little extra shimmer with pavé set diamonds in the shank.
This classic three-stone trellis setting features interwoven prongs sweeping upward to gracefully hold two half-moon shape diamond side stones.
Inspired by the sapphires in Kate Middleton’s ring and the three-stone look of Meghan Markle’s engagement ring? This stunner has the best of both worlds, featuring two beautifully matched round-shaped blue sapphires as an accent to the exquisite center diamond of your choice.
We’re excited to share this guest article about rose gold engagement rings by Angelica Carsolin from Comparakeet.
How often do you see rose gold accessories and devices around you? While the color itself has been in use in the fashion industry since the 1920s with Cartier’s Trinity ring, it only returned to the spotlight — with demand for it skyrocketing — when Apple decided to introduce a rose gold variant to the iPhone 6s model back in 2015. The leading tech company is known not only for their line of computers and mobile devices, but also for their fashionable, trendsetting design. Since then, rose gold has been prevalent in almost every fashion accessory there is, from mobile phones, to clothes, to bags, and of course, to bridal jewelry.
Rose gold engagement rings in particular have been quite popular lately, especially among celebrities. Intrigued by this latest fashion trend? Let’s take a closer look at who has worn them, what your options are and, of course, how much they cost.
Celebrities with Rose Gold Engagement Rings
Gossip Girl socialite Blake Lively got a lovely engagement ring from now-hubby Ryan Reynolds. Complementing the rose gold ring was a 12-carat pink oval-cut diamond with a split shank band, a lovely combination which is estimated at around 2 million dollars.
If you would like to have this ring for your engagement, here’s a look-alike from James Allen:

As Wonder Woman 1984 is – finally – taking over the big screen, we can’t help but think of how well she’d wield a somewhat more delicate Lasso of Truth: namely, an engagement ring. Sure, Wonder Woman shines bright enough on her own. But even the baddest of asses deserves to accessorize.
Which styles could keep up with her Cheetah-battling, Nazi-defeating lifestyle? We’ve put together a lineup of bold, distinctive, pack-a-punch engagement rings worthy of Princess Diana of Themyscira.
Each of us experiences a different path to love. But when it’s right, it’s right. And how awesome is it that sometimes it’s right the first time around?! Although everyone grows together in their own relationships, there’s something really special about the classic “high-school sweethearts” who grow up together into adulthood, knowing that what they have is special and worth holding onto.
Here at James Allen, we can’t even count how many proposal stories our customers send us about high-school sweethearts who got engaged.
Ashley and Noah are a perfect example of one such couple who have been together since high school and have never let go.
ENGAGEMENT MOMENT OF THE MONTH
Ashley & Noah from Richmond, Kentucky
“We fell so in love with the island that we decided to visit it again the next summer (this past summer) as well. Little did I know at the time that this would be no ordinary family vacation.” – Ashley
Ashley and Noah, high-school sweethearts, began dating when Ashley was a sophomore and Noah was a senior. As they both shared a love of traveling, Ashley often went on cruises with Noah and his family. Last year they traveled to their favorite destination, St. Martin, and they couldn’t wait to come back the following year (this past summer).
Ashley had no idea what Noah had in store for her this time, or how much this family vacation would stand out from the rest.
When they reached their hotel, all Ashley could dream of was a nice, deep sleep, after a tough day of traveling. Noah, however, insisted that she wake up early, much to her chagrin, to get ready for an early breakfast with the family. A tired Ashley begrudgingly headed out to what she thought would be an ordinary breakfast, when Noah’s parents told her they wanted to stop and take some pictures on the beach, while Noah kept walking ahead.
“We cannot wait to return to our favorite island next summer for the destination wedding that we have dreamed about since it all began back in high school.” – Ashley
After taking a look at the pictures to see how they came out, Ashley turned around and saw Noah, who handed her a present. Inside the box was a mug that said “Does this ring make me look engaged?” Ashley instantaneously knew what Noah was up to, and her face lit up with a huge smile and happy tears. Noah asked her to marry him, and Ashley immediately said “Yes!” He then slid a stunning pavé engagement ring onto her finger, and they celebrated by finally having that breakfast she craved.
How excited are you for the upcoming season finale of The Bachelor? The show’s drama is definitely addictive and has had me on the edge of my seat these last few episodes. I think I like it a bit too much when I see another one bite the dust. I just like a one-woman man, and am waiting for Nick to finally choose… dum dum dum…. Vanessa! No, that’s not a spoiler; we don’t get advanced screenings of The Bachelor episodes at James Allen (how awesome would that be?) – I’m just hardcore #TeamVanessa. She better win. Nick, if you’re reading this, I mean it. You need a woman like Vanessa – she’s elegant and graceful, and if your head gets bigger than it already is, she’ll be able to put you right back in your place. Thank god you got rid of “I’m not here to make friends” Corinne. Sayonara, sucker! And although Rachel’s one classy girl, with her gone too, there’s more Nick to go around for the final contestants.
So now it’s down to two ladies – Raven *horror music plays* and Vanessa *angels sing*. Who do you think will win the final rose and Nick’s heart?
But enough about this reality-show love sandwich (what a weird image that just entered my mind, of a jelly-covered Nick struggling to breathe, caught between a loaf-shaped Raven and Vanessa) – let’s focus on actual reality and swoon in the enchantment that is Kara and Patrick’s real-life proposal story. Unlike Nick, Patrick has always known who deserves his rose.
Read how Patrick swept Kara off her feet, with his The Bachelor-themed proposal:
ENGAGEMENT MOMENT OF THE MONTH
Kara and Patrick from Gardendale, Alabama
“He is my very best friend and always will be – I wouldn’t trade my relationship or friendship with him for anything in this world.” – Kara
Kara and Patrick are high-school sweethearts, but their friendship goes even further back to a time when cooties abounded – middle school. As they grew closer and the cooties flew off, they developed a crush on each other their junior year and became “Facebook official” after Patrick finally asked Kara out.
The two have essentially grown up together and can’t even imagine their life apart. Since Patrick knows Kara like the back of his hand, he knew exactly what type of proposal she would like. Nothing could be better than a Bachelor-themed proposal for Kara, the truest of Bachelor fans.
Patrick planned the surprise perfectly, without Kara suspecting a thing. Ready for a night out together, Kara waited for Patrick to pick her up for what she thought was a charity event. When he texted her that he was outside, she opened the door to see a giant limo instead! Her heart skipped a beat, as she instantly understood what was to come.
“There was Patrick with rose petals surrounding him and one single rose in his hand.” – Kara
The limo began driving to an unknown destination, and eventually pulled up to a beautiful gated mansion, identical to the Bachelor mansion. When she got out of the car, she stepped onto a red carpet, leading to the final destination – Patrick, the love of her life, standing in the foyer, surrounded by rose petals, a single red rose in his hand. He asked her if she would accept this final rose, and of course, she said ‘yes.’
Bride-to-be Kara and no-longer-a-bachelor Patrick continued their magical evening at a fancy restaurant, and then went home, where an engagement party with their friends and family awaited them.

Moment of the Month
Kelsey & Drew from Charlottesville, Virginia
Kelsey and Drew were drawn to each other straight from the start, but the timing wasn’t right. Finally, one lucky St. Patrick’s Day in 2011, they ran into each other and decided it was time to give dating a try.
Their first date was an unforgettable one, at a peanut-filled University of Virginia baseball game. They were hooked. Dating was so fun and easy.
On Labor Day weekend in 2015, Kelsey and Drew headed out to Johnson City, Tennessee, Drew’s hometown. Kelsey was unaware what was in store for her. Kelsey, Drew, Drew’s mother, stepfather and 2 bulldogs all piled into the truck to Drew’s grandfather’s “secret” farm.
After a relaxing cow-filled afternoon and a stroll along the riverbank complete with Grandpa’s anecdotes, Kelsey suddenly heard their song playing – the Avett Brothers’ “Swept Away.” She turned around and saw Drew on one knee.
He asked her to take his last name, and the rest was history.
