This summer proposal is for beach lovers or just all around romantics.
There are so many different ways to propose – each proposal story is unique, from the reaction of the person being proposed to, to the look on the face of the person proposing.
What’s important is that the one asking the ‘Will you?’ finds unique ways to personalize their proposal for the girl (or guy) they want the ‘YES!’ from. (Read this for more proposal tips.)
That’s exactly what Rob did, for Char.
“I have a deep love for the ocean and wanted to spend as much time there as possible.” – Char
Char and Rob had been together ever since they met in 2007 in Hawaii on a public bus (see, you really can meet your soulmate anywhere!).
Fast-forward years later, they travelled to New Jersey from their home in Colorado, for Rob’s cousin’s wedding. They drove to Rob’s family’s shore house the day before the wedding. Being the beach lover she is, Char of course decided to take a walk down to the beach.
“He pointed down to a beautiful glass bottle with a note rolled up inside.” – Char
Char was merrily walking along the beach with Rob and taking photos, when all the sudden something in the sand caught her eye. It was a bottle with a rolled-up note! She excitedly scooped up the bottle and began photographing it. Rob told her to open the bottle.
She opened the bottle and untied the ancient looking, worn note. On it was written, “To my Angel…” And that was it. She looked up and saw Rob on his knee. Rob began telling Char what for sure were beautiful words, but her state of shock prevented her from actually hearing them!
“I also remember feeling the sun on my back while he was proposing, thinking the clouds had parted for our special moment!” – Char
Rob then pulled out a shiny red James Allen ring box with a stunning yellow gold solitaire twisted yellow gold ring. A simple engagement ring that didn’t need anything more than a gentle twist to add to its brilliance. Char began to cry and jumped up onto Rob with her legs wrapped around him. He placed the beautiful engagement ring on Char’s finger, and continued their day as an engaged couple, with the ring glistening up at Char and the sun shining down on them.
What makes this proposal story extra special is that Rob tailored it to Char; he knew of her love for the ocean, so he made sure to incorporate that into his proposal.
“He had an idea of what I wanted, but designed the ring himself. Dainty, elegant, gold cable cord, and the perfect diamond!” – Char
